Who Might Have Met in the Trenches?

The German trenches are better sighted because they were falling back. The British and French lines tend to be where they got to in advancing up to it. But I have to say the Germans, as they were in defense, often had time to put more wood in. Their dugouts were better. They'd bring up moral home comforts Because they were intending to be there for a long time. Whereas British trenches and French trenches had a more temporary feel because we were always going to go in the big push. We were going to advance to victory. Any time now is a separate matter but that sort of explains a bit of that.
