The Green Shoe Option in IPOs
The green shoe option or the over allotment option is pretty, you see it a lot across a lot of IPOs. It's been used across significant companies way back into the 20th century. A very huge example of a green shoe option was the one that happened at Facebook in the IPO of 2012. The syndicate ended up selling 484 million shares to clients, 15% above the initial allocation.
