The Importance of Being Awake
The gods heard him approaching, in anger, yelling that one had survived. They wouldn't let humans be wiped from the earth. Who would call an audience of the gods for Gilgamesh? Utnapishtim relented and said there might be another way. He asked Gilgamesh to stay awake for six days on a beach near Eryk. If at the end you're awake, you can have what you came here to get. That was easy. A few hours later, the ferryman returned - they could make their way back to the mainland now.Gilgamesh could go home.
