It's funny, because we understand no instinctive about everything else. We know the british empire changed beyond all recognition. And yet, for some reason we think rome was like Rome from sulla to four ten. It's just bizarre, isn't it? It is. i suppose one of the reasons why we think that is that the voices that we hear from this period encourage us to think in those towns are interesting.
