In one of the chapters of the book, I go into great detail about this conversation. What really comes out by all these journalists and academics is a sense of deep resentment of the quote unquote civilian population because it doesn't suffer. And if you haven't been in war, you don't know war, which that is the fundamental premise of this argument. There's a way in which it becomes a profoundly silencing effect on the possibility of actually having a political argument about the wars.
