The Importance of Human-Caused Mortality in Mexican Wolf Recovery
We need a higher average population for at least eight years and beyond. Each time we have a year with higher mortality or lower pup survival, that's going to lower our overall population. It also further decreases gene diversity in the wild. So it's a critical factor that we don't believe is currently being adequately addressed by most of the policies that govern Mexican wolf recovery.
