What's the Meaning of History?
i'v ben reading lately, this book stross's absolutely incredible thoughts on machiavelli. The idea stross tried to do was to excavate the underlying shared philosophical concern even when it wasn't obvious on the surface of things. So you don't have to take any of this, ou nat take my word for any of it, or take it on faith. But if his readings are fruitful then we can entertain that thesis and say: 'This is what historians should be doing'
