The Importance of a Safe Match
My father encouraged me to go to university, but if I'd have said I wanted to do theatre studies, it'd have been a bit crazy maybe. They never encouraged the creative side of me, because in their world, creativity wouldn't pay the bills. But at the time, it felt like being throttled. And so for two years, I'd watch all these girls go off and do theatre studies and have all this amazing fun, and I failed at economics - although I was terrible at it. Nothing stuck. It stuck was that my father wanted the best for me, and he wanted me to have a safety match. He always came from a place of love and wanting the best
