How I Lost My Job Without a Plan
Sally Kohn: I had three babies before tenure and I was standing in the yard holding a baby and the other two were playing around me and I had extremely painful shingles just on the side of my head and in my eye. The doctor said, well, kiddo, he's an older gentleman. Your body knows when you're doing too much. It wasn't didn't get me out of academia at that moment because I would go on for another three years after that. But I think we carry those little moments with us and at one point it was triggered into action. So this is where a certain degree of luck steps in.
