Had briton still had its empire, the beedles would not have broken through to the same extent. They are seen as whimsical and entertaining but they're not seen as representatives of a rival power or anything like that. In part it is because the american musical scene has become very stagnant in the early sixties so the beetles are offering something new. And indeed, that that attention is always there in british and American kind of musical college.
