Iron has a much higher melting point, and that made it much harder to work technically. If you add carbon to the mix, which would happen naturally if yo coal, you can turn iron into steel. And steel is a way better than bronze. Many of the ancient civilizations i've talked about in this show are iron age civilizations. The romans, the greeks, the hittites, the persians, the chinese shang dynasty, the indian maurian dynasty were all iron aged dynasties.
