The Importance of Coping With the Industrial Age
Our strategies for coping come from the industrial age. Our default strategy is to manage our time, which was never something that people worried about terribly before the industrial revolution. Now I'm not suggesting we go back to some kind of hippie state before clocks. But what I am suggesting is that actually those strategies for a number of very good psychological reasons make us less effective now.
