The Role of Performance in the War
There were less than 2000 court marshals in the military, which when you've got millions of men, he's striking. So I feel that there was a level of tolerance and maybe people quickly, they maybe they knew who was gay in their units. The idea of performance is really interesting. Did the outbreak of war allow men to toy with or experience new gender roles? That might be the moment that makes them incredibly brave and able to do incredible things.
