William Asbury discovered that the proteins in wool could change shape. And he began doing some work on the main protein component of seeds. He was a phenomenally talented popularizer of science. His overcoat wasn't woven out of wool or conventional textile fibers. It was woven from monkey nut proteins or peanut proteins. The story may well be his lasting, I'm gonna have to use it, his lasting scientific legacy.
