Theodore Vail saw his job as managing the touch between artists and soldiers. He said, you've got to make both sides feel loved. And so that's what made Vannevar Bush successful decades later. Jobs in this first version of Apple would praise the crazy artist and completely belittle the soldiers. But when he came back 12 years later, he had loved his artists and his soldiers both. In fact, his successor was Tim Cook, the soldier, not Joni Eve, the artist.
