Are Female Writers Socially Accepted?
Jane Austen was a big fan of Francis Burney, Anne Radcliffe and Mary Wollstonecraft. In the late 18th century there's a circle of women called the Blue Stockings who were celebrated for their intellectual achievements. And to somebody like Jane Austen who had kind of artistic and creative ambitions in her family, they really respected women writers.
