The Siege of Sevastopol
The siege of Sevastopol isn't actually a siege. It's more like the Western front. You've got two dug-in well entrenched armies bombarding each other furiously. Every day the Allies knocked the defences down and every night the Russians rebuilt them. The whole city is smashed to pieces. If they lost 100 000 in Sevastopol it would be very surprised. They were losing thousands of men every day particularly towards the end.
