The History of Berg the Great Medeller

When he was upset about someone being cruel to an animal, Henry Berg started whipping out a cane and attacking people. The press loved his confrontations; some newspapers labeled him as Berg the Great Medeller. Others did not enjoy his efforts and called him an ass that should have his ears cropped. But in 1866, Berg created an organization called the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals - now known as the ACE PCA.
