Devon and Cornwall - How Strong Was the Old Faith in England?
In Devon and Cornwall in the 1540s there are very few actual proto-protestants. The west country is actually one of the most religiously conservative parts of the whole kingdom. In Exeter a group of local women charge into the church when they hear that Henry's dissolution of the monasteries is taking place. Women then barricade themselves in the church against those who would seek to disboil it. They eventually manage to winkle them out of this position but the work of destruction continues.
