Is Puritanism a Collectivism?

I love this analysis of Puritanism as being collectivist. I think that they, the collectivism is what makes them repressive of individual urges. A Puritan who wore lace would be a threat to the community because it threatened conformity. The south was a biracial society. White and Black Southerners lived around each other every single day. Whereas in New England, it did not.
