For example, I asked chat GPT about the best treatments for endometriosis and its answer was only middling. A startup like OpenAI isn't a public company. It doesn't face the same kind of accountability pressures that a Google or a meta does. Also, the money to be made in consumer AI might be seductive for the big players.
