Human Rights as an Instrument of Soft Power

A foreign policy dedicated purely to the promotion of human rights would destroy the country that is dedicated to it. You must engage in some hypocrisy in order to have an effect of foreign policy while wielding this particular cudgel. And, you know, the purest of pure among us don't quite understand that level of statecraft.
