Commandos on the HMS Camotain - A Brief History
Colonel Charles Newman's commandos were divided into three groups. One was sent in on the HMS Camotain itself, one on a port column of motor launches and one on a starboard column of motor Launches. For the first hour of the raid, Newman thought everything was going swimmingly. But every one of those who got ashore was either killed, wounded or wounded and taken prisoner. And despite already being wounded, having lit their fuses,. they managed to do so with seconds to spare.
