The Sobering Moment in the Senate
CNN's John Avlon says this was the expected outcome, but it feels big like a shift in what the Senate is and how the Senate works. "A giant boulder of bipartisan rancor has been rolling down the hill since we've got divided government in 2011," he says. He adds that reducing the minority's rights on judicial appointments almost automatically guarantees that the judiciary will become as hyper-partisan as any branch of the government because they're subject to only the majority.
