Los Angeles Police Chief That Lasted More Than Six Months
A police chief that lasted more than six months during this period was pretty rare Unless they embraced big business and the protection of vice. James Davis made a name for himself in the Los Angeles police department as the head of the vice Squad during prohibition. He reorganized the department in response to accusation that his war on crime was Inefficient and neglectful he fired a fifth of the force for bad conduct and instituted the dragnet system of policing.
