The Victorian Epithet to Label Prostitutes
Every woman who had sex outside of wedlock was a fallen woman. Any woman who led an irregular life was assumed to be a prostitute. They drank, in some cases very heavily. Annie chapman was addicted. And victorian society conflated all these things. So the broken woman and the fallen woman were the same thing. It's also because we're carrying with us victorian prejudices. But what right have we with no actual evidence, in the case of three of them, no actual i'm not talking about spurious witness statements derived from newspaper reports. I'm talking about actual, hard evidence and documents without any documentation. What right do we have a of the cases to repeat this vict
