Nelson lichenstein is a labor historian at u c s b, where he directs the centre for the study of work labor and democracy. He writes about american political economy, as well as labor altogether, and the automotive industry, walmart. His latest book is called, capitalism contested, the new deal and its legacy. And nelson has two articles out in the last week on that and the state of the labor movement. We've been doing a lot of programming on whether or not strike tober represents the sort of resurgence of the labour movement. So it's perfect to have nelson to talk to day about the state of working people.
