The Old You and the New You

There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. We have been given something we receive that it is not based on a foundation of what we could do to earn this. Grace, mercy and love bring the freedom because God doesn't leave you because you made a mistake or sinned. The flesh drives us to try to find freedom from sin through obeying the law.
