The History of England Could Have Been Changed if Somerset Had Arrived Just a Few Days Earlier
If those Cornish troops had arrived just a few days earlier the whole course of English history could have been changed. Evidence emerged many years after the rebellion was over to suggest that the Welsh too had been in communication with the rebel leaders and it said if you can make your way to Salisbury plain we will join you there. If those protesting forces had marched on London defeated the troops that Somerset was able to put in the field against them there was every possibility that Mary could have been installed as regent as a Catholic regent and Edward would not have come to power for many years to come.
