Catherine of Aragon

Catherine of Aragon was Henry VIII's first wife and his longest reigning consort. She is the youngest daughter of Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile. When Catherine arrived in England as a young bride in 1501, it wasn't to marry Henry but his older brother, Prince Arthur. This was a huge alliance for England which lent prestige and legitimacy to this new Tudor dynasty that nobody expects to last very long at all.
