Afghan History - The Mujahadin Resistance
The mujahdin resistance is a legacy of the 19 seventye coup that overthrew the king and a member of the royal family. The soviet union, to defend the communist government in cabl invaded in late 19 79. And over the next ten years, to repel the soviets from their country, the mujahadin made the state ungovernable as a strategy. So they basically decided to destroy the capacity for any central government to rule the country. This resulted in an absolutely tragic and brutal civil war - what you then parachuted yourself into.
