MI6 had to recall all its agents and operatives from Western Europe for a short time at a time when we needed intelligence. They were effectively in a concentration camp for about five years because it was believed that a lot of the MI6 agents were given up under torture. I'm guessing though, for every overhearing about a V2 rocket location, you also have a dead rat filled with a bomb that's instantly busted. So I'm guessing that there was an idea of you've got to try a lot of things, and some of them are inevitably going to fail. Yes, I think no one believes that everything can succeed."
