The Magic of Preorders

There used to be something magic about the number 500 when it comes to orders for a game and getting it made. GMT Games had a system they came up with in the 90s to basically regulate their cash flow, test market demand and survive as a war game publisher because it's difficult. For commit making that commitment, there's a discount. So it's a discounted price. And 500 was the number in the 1990s that was the break even point, that if they got 500 preorders, give or take, they could print the thing and not lose money.
