i think of them almost as screens onto which others have projected either their desires or their ambitions for their own dynasty. So we can see radically differing interpretations of them and how they are portrayed in illuminated manuscripts, or even in some of the art of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. i do think it's really fascinating looking at how the portrayal of them in popular meteor and in chronicles have differed so wildly depending upon shifting views of women and power. And i do think now thereh's been a renewed interest in them. Maybe we have such an appetite for their story because we don't see many similar ones.
