The Importance of the Word in Hermeneutics

Paul Rekker was the subject of my doctoral dissertation. He pushed me to articulate the difference between philosophical and theological hermeneutics. A Karl Barth also pressed home this point in his preface to his Romans commentary. John Webster, also a Cambridge grad, has urged me to resist returning to the Egypt of philosophical hermeneutic.
