Roland St. Gilray and Isaac Crookshank were both students at the Royal Academy Schools. They applied high art techniques to what was considered low art of satires and prints that you could buy in the shops, on the streets of London. This created this brand new area of art where you was really elevating these what were considered low forms. And they all ended up very excitingly, very close to each other.
