The Importance of Historical Perspective in the War on Ukraine
It seems to me unusual that this is a conflict in which history is being used as a weapon almost and that historians needed more than ever to help make sense of what's happening. I write in the introduction to my book that after going back and forth on whether this is a good project for a historian, whether we can contribute something. So I convinced myself to rephrase Winston Churchill that historians are the worst commentators on the contemporary events except everybody else.
