The Ancient Greeks Didn't Unite Politically
i want to be very clear that i'm not knocking the classical greeks, of the civilization that reached its peak some two thousand 500 years ago. Their attitudes to women were pretty horrible by our standards. Like most ancient societies, their society was economically founded on the institution of slavery. The one thing politically the ancient greeks never managed to get round was to invent the equivalent of what we call diplomacy or international relations.
