Safe Haven Laws - The Birth of a Newborn

Linda Presley met the instigators of safe haven laws nearly twenty years ago. They campaigned to offer a legal alternative for mothers compelled to abandon their newborn babies. Safe haven laws were hotly debated, but eventually adopted by all fifty states. Mothers can leave their babies anonymously at a designated site if they feel they can't look after them. As long as the baby is unharmed, there's no risk of prosecution and the child will be adopted.
