The Taiwan Strait Cold War Crisis
The Korean War moved the strategic compass and spotlight to shine over East Asia in a way that it perhaps wouldn't have done otherwise. There are quite a few Taiwan Strait crises during the Cold War, but it's worth just doing Taiwan Strait Cold War crisis. But I think really, from Taiwan's perspective, the Taiwan problem has never gone away since 1949. What you've got are moments when it sort of rises in importance, the moments when it slightly fades in importance.
