The Ethics of Genetic Editing in the Germline
Jen Q went to prison after he announced that he had successfully edited some embryos. He wanted to prove that there was a way to make sure humans, we could edit out the ability for humans to develop or carry HIV. The scientific community was horrified because he'd crossed this line by editing the actual embryos of these babies. We don't know what it means for these two girls and their descendants 100 years down the line. Because it's just so new.
