The Inevitability of Colonianism

Marx and Engels are constantly stressing the sheer barbarity, the murderous barbarity of colonialism. They see in a way that even many of their followers today, I think, don't is the inextricability of violence and market relations. Because they have a sense of communism as very much not an ascetic moment, they see it as built on plenty. And for that reason, you can read some of their inevitability talk as saying this has to happen so that the world is ready.
