In the eighties, it was revealed that french president francois miterin had worked for vichy before joining the resistance. It's not until 19 95 that the french president publicly acknowledged french complicity in the holocaust. So it took quite a long timea for a vice's role to be recognized. There's certainly a lot of scholarship that's being done on this period.
