Benjamin franklin was a serial hoaxer throughout his life. He made up a speech by a woman called polly baker, who never existed. The reason he probably wrote the speech was just to make the point about how poorly women were treated in new england. It later turned out that the speech had been written by ben Benjamin franklin.
