Khomeini's 'Sunni Despot'
He was seen as very brave and courageous, but so openly sort of challenging the Shah's authority. Khomeini taps into this religious symbolism here in order to compare the Shah to a Sunni despot. And again, he's arrested and ultimately there's this decision of whether the regime should jail him or execute him. But it's important to actually understand that the sort of in June, 63 is called the 15th of Khoradad. That itself has been enshrined as kind of a key watershed in the Islamist historiography.
