The baltimore clipper was designed as a blockade buster, moving fast across the atlantic. It's design tory derives from privateers that were being used in what we call the war of 18 12. People would be coffled together m usually separated by gender, and then sort of forced to be below decks at minimum, i believe, 16 to 18 hours a day, very little air. They could only deficate and anything like that in large tubs that were communily shared. So obviously a breeding ground of disease. And then you have all sorts of verminas well thatr on slave ships.
