Is the Fed's Typical Medicine of Higher Interest Rates Working?
The Fed has been working for over a year to have this just right landing. We've described the economy as a big plane that the Fed is trying to land in turbulence without disturbing the passengers. I think today's data shows that it's becoming even more difficult to be able to thread this needle. The good news is that we're no longer having this almost existential discussion about whether the Fed could get its arms around inflation.
