Avulsion Fractures of the Anterior Superior Illiac Spine Are Common Injuries in Young Athletes
Avulsion fractures of the anterior superior iliac spine are usually low-energy injuries. They do not require an extensive workup, for example CT scanning. Treatment is almost always symptomatic with partial weight bearing and physical therapy. A 12-year-old male has immediate pain and ecomosis over his right groin after injuring himself during a hockey game. radiograph shows an avulsion of the right ASIS.
