Introduction
The self-glorification and self-concededness of the learned man is now everywhere in full bloom. In Fine, I found most frequently, behind the proud disdain of philosophy in young scholars, the evil after-effect of some particular philosopher to whom on the whole obedience had been force-worn. Here also the instinct of the populace cries, freedom from all masters; it proposes in its wantonness and indiscretion to lay down laws for philosophy. The result being a general ill will to all philosophy.
