The Rise of Counter Culture
In a free society, you need a counter culture to show that you're free. So when you look at the growth of counter culture type ways of living, or ways of creating, things like beet poets are easily accommodated by their main stream culture. That's what counts as descent because it fits in with our idea of what would count as a catericultural movement. It's fascinaing to watch these things grow up.
